Best Year of My Life
Well 2010, you will never be forgotten. This is the year that I bought my first car, finally got my license, had the surprise party I always wanted, finally made it to Aruba and most importantly, started a family. There were so many milestones reached in this year, that at times it did not seem real.
Being a father is like nothing I have ever experienced before. It is just so surreal to know that...
Blizzard, Football, Shoveling, Back to Work
Been very busy over the last several days. We had a blizzard (Connor’s first snow storm and first blizzard all in one) and the final count I heard was 22 inches of snow. Today I shoveled behind the cars to get them out of what the plow pushed in. The cars were actually clean because the wind was so bad that it blew all the snow off the cars!
Watched a bunch of football on Sunday, except for...
Christmas!
Today was awesome. Great time with family on both sides. Morning to afternoon with O’Sullivan’s, afternoon to evening with Vasto’s. Every one was so great with Connor and amazingly generous with gifts. Bridget and I are blessed to have such amazing family!!! Aunt Katie blew us away with a scrap book she has been working on for Connor for months. It left Bridget and I both...
Christmas Eve
Work was a breeze today, only two clients came in and I was there for half a day. Picked up my fish, ate it for lunch (it was awesome this year!). Nonna and Grandpa came over to see Connor for a little and of course, Aunt Casey and Uncle Rob have been here all day as they arrived in NJ late last night. Just hanging with Bridget’s family tonight and tomorrow morning we will see them, then my...
Best Wife In The World!
Yesterday I was a mess. I was up with Connor from 4:00 AM on and went right to work. I was absolutely the most tired I have ever been in my life. Bridget was quick to notice this and told me that her plan was for me to eat dinner, relax with Connor for a little bit, then go to bed. I was in bed at 10:30 PM and she took care of Connor all night. It was amazing! I got a full 7 plus hours of sleep! I...
ROLLING!!!
Last night I got up at 4:00 AM with Connor, and I never fell back asleep. Going through today felt like I was in cement all day. Thankfully, work wasn’t that bad so I was able to get through it.
The best part of today was this morning before I went to work Connor rolled again. Bridget told me he rolled 4 times yesterday, so today we put him on his stomach this morning and I...
Washer and Dryer are here!
Who would have thought I would ever be so excited to be able to do laundry? I spoke to Lowes this morning at 6:30 AM (after I got up with Connor and fed him at 5:00 AM, I was alert and bored so I called about my washer and dryer). They told me that they would call back at 7:30 AM with a delivery time. They called back and told me that my time was between 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM. Guess what time the...
Back to work
Yesterday was a nice morning. I got up with Connor at 6:00 AM, did a feeding and diaper change and then he was wide awake. We hung out together for a while until Bridget woke up. I really cherish those little moments I can spend with him. It’s an awesome experience.
Going back to worked sucked. I hated leaving the little man and Bridget. Mondays are my late night, so I got home around 9:00...
Geat Help
Last night we looked into swaddling, and decided we would try using this blanket we have called “The Miracle Blanket.” I have to say it lives up to the name. It was great, and Connor slept better than ever last night.
Today I worked my part time job for only 1 client. It wasn’t as bad as last time to leave, but I know Monday is going to be rough on me. I hate to leave my little...
Another great day
Last night ended up being pretty good. Connor woke up at 2:00 AM, 6:00 AM, and 9:00 AM. The best part about his wake up at 2:00 AM, was his cord fell off! It scared the crap out of both of us when we looked at it and it was gone. We were looking all through his sleep sack and finally found it on the changing table. It was pretty funny.
Today Grandpa Vasto came over and spent the day with us. He...
Crazy Night, Work Friends, Birth Certificate
Last night was pretty crazy. Connor basically refused to sleep and screamed until 2:00 AM. I couldn’t take it any more and woke up Bridget and told her I needed a break. Bridget took him into the den, and I feel asleep. I woke up around 9:15 AM and found Connor and Bridget both asleep in the den. She told me it took an hour before she got him to sleep. What a crazy night!
Today I ran out to...
Busy Day
Last night was an eventful one. I had taken a nap yesterday from 5:00 - 7:30 PM and it made it impossible to sleep. I was wide awake until 2:00 AM, at which point when I tried to sleep, Connor jumped up wanting to be fed. After feeding and changing him, and of course making a 3:00 AM strategic fantasy football playoffs free agent pick up, I had him back in bed. And by 3:30, he was fussing with...
Sleepy Tuesday
Quiet again here (trust me, that’s a good thing). We are still working on getting this whole sleep cycle thing down. Last night I was up with Connor until about 1:30 to give him a late night feeding, and laid him down around 2:15. He was up at 4, and 6 with mommy. I think I changed a diaper at 5:30, but it all seems foggy to me now. I do know that Bridget and I were both so tired that we...
Quiet Day
Quiet day today at home. Connor got his first bath and actually seemed to really like it. A little fussing, but no major crying. Bridget and I were both pleasantly surprised.
Connor’s birth announcement/Christmas card arrived today and it looks awesome. Sorry, no sneak peeks here. They were mailed out today and everyone will be getting one soon.
Tonight I made my first meal since Connor...
And we're back
Road trip complete, home in one piece.
Poor Connor has yet to witness a JETS win… I feel embarrassed to expose my son to such poor performances by his favorite team (trust me, he is a JETS fan).As I type this, his eyes are wide open watching the Sunday night football game (he is rooting for daddy’s fantasy football team!).
So now it’s just about getting back into the routine of...
Day 2
Quiet day lots of eating and sleeping. Connor got to meet some of Bridget’s classmates today as they came by after she returned from class. The night was good, not much crying through the night, starting to get the hang of Connor sleeping and getting ahead of his cries with a a feeding. I’m looking forward to getting home tonight and just being back in our space.
Hotel Heisman
Highlights from Day 1 of road trip:
When asked what he thought about Pennsylvania, Connor responded with a huge poopy diaper. (Yes, I did just write poopy. When you are a new dad you can say things like that.)
When I woke up with Mommy and Grandma at 2:30 AM, they told me my eyes were all red and I needed to sleep. Turns out they were so irritated from waking up late in the night that my eyes...
Road Trip
Hello from friendly Wilkes Bare, PA! We are here because Bridget is in a doctoral program and has four classes and two presentations this weekend. After this semester, one more until Connor’s mommy is Dr. Vasto! I am so proud of her! Connor did great on the trip up here, sleeping the whole two hours. We brought Grandma with us for insurance in case things get a little stressful, but I...
I think we are starting to get it...
Last night’s feeding went soooo much better. Bed at midnight, and up at 3. We had a system, and got him fed, burped, diaper changed and calmed down in record time. We learned how to burp in between each side and too use changing to wake him up and let him eat until he gets enough food. Connor back down to sleep by 4, and up again at 6. Same thing, fed, burped and changed with out a hitch. It...
I'm a Dad!
Connor Patrick Vasto born 12/2/10. 8lbs 9 oz 19 inches long!
First couple days in hospital were not too bad. Bridget had a c-section so we got to stay for 4 days. At first I was upset for her to have surgery, but I am thankful to have gotten the extra time in the hospital and get some extra support on how to care for this little man.
We got home yesterday, the 6th at around 4:30. He slept until...
